Our History
-
1991
WAKMET LTD was established in September 1991 by four co-owners: Engineer. Kazimierz Kaczmarek, Eng. Andrzej Wilczyński, Eng. Janusz Wachowski and Zbigniew Krzywdziński. Everyone besides monetary contributions in the founding of the company has invested his many years of experience. Initially the company was operating under the name of "WAKMET Industrial Design and Production Plant.
-
1993
The founding Investment and contribution by the partners is also a constructional document, on the basis of which the production of specialized valves for the coke industry has been launched, as well as numerous commercial contacts, which made it easier to find customers of the manufactured valves. In the first year of its existence, WAKMET employed seven highly skilled metal workers who began working on thirty machine tools installed in a production hall of 300m². Thanks to its own design solutions, protected by the Polish Patent Office , the range of products has been gradually expanded. Initially, the company mainly produced products for coking plants and CHP plants. In 1993, dynamic sales growth allowed the company to purchase the fallen Textile Factory in Bodzanów.
-
1994
Finally, in 1994, along with the name change, the company moved its headquarters to the purchased Textile Factory in Bodzanów. In the following years there was a dynamic development of the assortment of manufactured valves, which allowed us to increase sales and thus profit. The factory's total income was invested in the adaptation of the newly acquired facility to the requirements of industrial valves production. After two years the company became a well-known manufacturer on the domestic and foreign market.
-
1995
By the end of 1995, WAKMET LTD became strong enough to begin the preparation process of implementing a quality assurance system based on the international standard ISO 9001. Constant dynamic production development and acknowledgement of customers allowed the company to obtain numerous recognition and approval of Classification Societies and external institutions such as the Polish Register of Shipping; Germanischer Lloyd; Det Norske Veritas; Lloyd's Register of Shipping, which is a reference to the requirements of companies with ISO 9000 standards. The support of these units contributes to the sale of products for the shipbuilding industry at home and abroad. Production of WAKMET valves are based on the best domestic materials, mostly forgings. The high quality of the manufactured valves allowed us to enter many markets: power plants (power plants and CHPs), chemical and metallurgical industries, construction and petrochemicals.
-
1998
In 1998 the factory changed its legal status from a civil law partnership to a public limited company. From the very beginning of the activity particular attention was paid to the quality of the products. Already in 1998, the company certified the quality management system, and in 2002 it obtained a certificate of conformity with the European Pressure Directive. In both cases, the certificates were issued by the internationally recognized Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance.
-
2006
The high quality of the products enabled the company to enter the highly demanding professional energy market and systematically increase export sales, mainly to European Union countries. The company was actively responding to market challenges and constantly introducing new products, and was the first in Poland to use titanium alloys in serial production of valves. Also the first in the country we launched the production of fine-grained steel fittings for working in supercritical conditions.
-
2010
In 2010, Intec Ltd. and Wakmet Ltd. established an industrial consortium. This allowed us to expand the range of control valves that are sold both domestically and internationally.
-
2016
At present, the company employs 235 people. During these 25 years of existence the co-owners have received many awards for their fruitful cooperation with the local community. 25th Jubilee Anniversary is a good opportunity to look back and evaluate the company's achievements during this period. To summarize and reflect on the way WAKMET has gone from the ruins to the position of the national leader in the production of high pressure fittings. This assessment gives an optimistic look to the future years. The company is well positioned to operate on a fast-moving, fast-changing market and is ready to take on new challenges.
